After a 7-day program full of bible studies, prayer gatherings, and recreational activities like sports and touring, the teens have finally concluded their summer camp with a closing ceremony. On this day, the Olivet Teen Mission (OTM) Welcome Ceremony for new OTM members was held and a closing sermon was delivered by Pastor Mark Spisak.
Firstly, the ceremony was held in recognition of new teens who were joining OTM that day. Pastor Amanda, the General Secretary of OTM, explicated upon OTM’s signature verse – Matthew 5:14 – and the importance of Christians to be a beacon of light in a world of darkness. She remarked that teens were to be such bright lights and that elder members of the organization should feel compelled to serve and help raise their younger peers on their paths of faith.
Then came the closing sermon, in which Pastor Mark Spisak discussed the internal thirst that people have in their souls and how Jesus is the “living water” that can fully quench that thirst. However, receiving this water does not stop at just receiving it. Rather, “rivers of living water” will come out of those who have already received Him into their lives, acting as a fountain and supply for others who thirsts have not yet been quenched. Therefore, the role of those who have received Jesus into their lives is to give others the opportunity to receive Him into their lives as well, fueled by the everlasting streams that come from Him and His Word and meditating deeply upon it to become like the prosperous tree by the stream, whose leaves do not wither. The service ended with a subsequent group photo.
We thank God that He has guided this camp from the beginning to the end. May all who have received grace retain it, continue to reflect on it, and share it with others, that grace may multiply and be abundant.
